Ocean Paintings

I have been fascinated for a long time with the undulating rhythms, the complex reflections, and the high degree of atmosphere that accompanies large bodies of water. These paintings consist of ocean views from the Oregon coast, Jamaica, Hilton Head, and a lake view from Lake Laussane in Switzerland. Except for the lake view, each painting was executed entirely with a palette knife and only the primary colors.

Venice Paintings

In the summer of 2001 I, along with my soon-to-be-wife took a backpacking trip across Europe, going in a circle from France to Switzerland to Italy to Spain then back to France. On our way to Italy we took an overnight train, arriving in Venice at about 4:45 in the morning, when the only people out were the local bakers, singing in the streets and preparing the goods for the coming day. We became immediately lost in the tangled web of streets and I was loving every minute of it. The place affected me; the look, the feel, the drama of it all, in such a way that I keep coming back to painting Venice, year after year. I think it is an attempt to best articulate the effect it had on me. Here are a few of my favorite paintings. Enjoy!

About the Artist

My name is Jeremy Mallov and I am an impressionist painter. I usually paint en plein air, but also enjoy studio work. I paint mostly in oils, but am also quite proficient in watercolors. I love painting landscapes, both locally in Indiana and internationally from my various travels to Europe, Israel, both American coasts, and the mountains of Texas. I have been painting for 10 years and have been teaching art in Lawrence Township in Indianapolis for the past 4. Pictured above is my painting "Parisian Market at Dusk" (oil on canvas, 18"x24", 2004) In the coming weeks I will work on uploading as many of my paintings from the past few years as I can. I can be contacted at mallovart@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you!
